A Guide to Ischgl: the perfect austrian ski holiday destination

The perfect ski holiday destination is a big billing to live up to but the small village of Ischgl in the Paznaun Valley in Tyrol, Austria, does just that.

Ischgl

With a population of only 1500, one would be forgiven for expecting little of this picturesque hamlet but a visit to the village and ski resort, Silvretta Arena Ischgl-Samnaun, which is connected to the Samnaun resort across the border in Switzerland, proves otherwise.

Scenery

The valley rises steeply from the village offering a beautiful view of a wooded valley. Above the tree line is where the magic lies as the Silvretta range is revealed in all its majesty. This is most definitely a ski destination you shouldn’t forget to bring your camera to.

Snow Reliability

With all the slopes barring the runs back to the resort being over 1,800m, you are quite likely to have good snow on your trip to Ischgl. There are also snow cannons to ensure prime snow conditions on the slopes.

Convenience

Ischgl is a well planned village with everything close at hand.

Gondolas

The gondolas are centrally located within a few minutes walk of each other and even have heated seats. The speed and capacity of each gondola ensure that even during the busiest of days, waiting time is kept to a minimum.

Dining In the Resort

The fare on offer in the village is of a very high quality with Mediterranean and traditional Austrian cuisine quite prevalent. Many hotels are well known for their high standards and with competition for custom so high you’re guaranteed quality.
