Summer Night Concert: is an annual outdoor concert in Vienna

Summer Night Concert Schönbrunn (German: ''Sommernachtskonzert'') is an annual outdoor concert in Vienna, Austria, held by the Vienna Philharmonic. The venue for the concert is the Schönbrunn Palace.

The concert began operations in 2004. Rolex began sponsoring it in 2009. As of around that year the concert has crowds of over 100,000.

The concert has performed works by Alexander Borodin, Claude Debussy, Manuel de Falla, Franz Liszt, Wolfgang Mozart, Modest Mussorgsky, Niccolò Paganini, Amilcare Ponchielli, Jean Sibelius, Johann Strauss, Richard Strauss, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Giuseppe Verdi, and Richard Wagner. The concert invariably ends with Wiener Blut, by Johann Strauss II.

With this open air concert in Schönbrunn, the Vienna Philharmonic wishes to provide all Viennese, as well as visitors to the city, with a special musical experience in the impressive setting of Schönbrunn Palace and its beautiful baroque gardens, a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site.

The Vienna Philharmonic performs its annual Summer Night Concert Schönbrunn, an open-air concert with free admission, in the unique ambience of the gardens of Schönbrunn Palace on Thursday, May 26, 2016. Semyon Bychov conducts the Summer Night Concert, which attracts up to 100,000 visitors annually to the Palace Park.

With this open-air concert in Schönbrunn, the Vienna Philharmonic wishes to provide all Viennese, as well as visitors to the city, with a special musical experience in the impressive setting of Schönbrunn Palace and its beautiful baroque gardens, a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site.

The program of the Summer Night Concert 2016 will be announced at a later date.

Getting to the Summer Night Concert

Should the concert on May 26th have to be postponed due to weather conditions, it will be performed on May 27th.

The Summer Night Concert Schönbrunn is attended annually by several thousand visitors. Since there are not adequate parking facilities in the area we highly recommend that you do not drive to the concert. Schönbrunn is easily accessible by public transportation from all directions.

Visitor Service — Summer Night Concert 2016

There is no admission fee for the Vienna Philharmonic Summer Night Concert Schönbrunn. The park is accessible for all visitors.

The Main Palace Gate as well as the Meidlinger Gate (eastern side of the palace) and Hietzinger Gate (western side of the palace) will remain open on the evening of the concert until 1:00 AM. The other entrances to the park will close at 9:00 PM.

We strongly recommend using public transportation to come to the concert, as parking in the area is insufficient. Please observe that no dogs or bicycles are allowed within the palace grounds.

Should the concert on May 26th have to be postponed due to weather conditions, it will be performed on May 27th.

Because the Summer Night Concert is an outdoor event, there will be a weather hotline on the day of the concert to provide information on the status of the concert.
